Visiting Engines Day

Unfortunately due to the hot weather we have been having recently, we have made the difficult decision to suspend steam locomotives for this Sundays ‘Visiting Engines Day’.

We are still open and running a regular train service with a mix of resident locomotives and visitors, however these will be diesel and battery-electric ones only.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and still look forward to welcoming you on Sunday.

We are pleased to announce that Mardyke built ‘Kestrel’ will be joining us for our Visiting Engines Day on Sunday. The locomotive arrived at the Swanley New Barn Railway in 1999, and after entering service in 2000 and has been running services ever since. She visited Barnards last year and is back by popular demand.

The Barnards Miniature Railway will be running train services on this day. Gates open at 11:00 and the last train leaves at 16:00. Trains run at regular intervals through the day.

Please note the railway is usually very busy when we open at 11, to avoid the longer waiting times we recommend you arrive after we have opened.

Return ticket (one full ride of the railway), £7

Rover ticket (ride all day), £10

Adult and children’s the same rate, under 3’s travel free

Please note dogs are not permitted unless they are guide dogs.

Please note the gardens are closed to the public on this day. Therefore no garden entry fee, just the fee for the railway.
