Mardyke Multiple Unit Daisy

The Metro-Cammell Class 101 DMU was a common sight on railways all across the country, appearing commonly in BR Blue, BR Blue & Grey, or BR Green (with and without the yellow ‘whiskers’) like our Daisy.

Mardyke Miniature Railways built four of these units, with our power car built by 1980. Originally built 3 1/2 Briggs and Stratton engine. It headed North and ran at the Chesterfield Model Engineering Society in Derbyshire, where it was eventually re-engined with a more powerful 6 1/2 engine. Originally Mardyke built only the power car, with the trailer end constructed at Chesterfield.

The power car was numbered E50322 and the trailing E50321.

In 2020, the unit arrived at Barnards. She is currently out of passenger service requiring some general maintenance before she is availible for service.
