Exmoor ‘Jean’
Jean was built by the Exmoor Locomotive Works in 2004. Delivered new to the Brookside Miniature Railway in Cheshire. The loco named ‘Jean’ after the railways owner, Chris Halsall, wife.
Three years later, in 2003, she went to the now closed Hills Miniature Railway. Loaned from Brookside to run train services because their locomotive, ‘Amy Louise’ (also now based at Barnards), was undergoing construction and not ready. Jean then returned to Brookside Miniature Railway, running as the main locomotive until Brookside Miniature Railways closure in 2018.
Jean moved after ‘Jeremy’ (now ‘Bernarda von Barnards’) to our railway in 2018, debuting at the 2018 End of Seasons Gala. She required some maintenance on her boiler which meant she was out of service for a while, but as of 2026 she is available for service.
